Still paying R800 a month for software you have to go to the back room to use?
Salon software is sold four different ways, and only one of them is honest about what a year will cost you. Here is every way you get charged, with the sums done.
The four ways salon software charges you
Two products can advertise the same price and be thousands of rand apart by December.
A flat fee a month
One price, whoever is working. Easy to budget for, and the only kind you can compare honestly. This is how MiSalon is sold.
A fee for every stylist
Cheap at one chair, painful at six. Every person you hire puts the bill up, so the software punishes you for growing.
A fee on every booking
A few rand plus a percentage each time someone books. A busy Saturday costs you more than a quiet one, and the total is never the same twice.
A cut of your new clients
Up to a fifth of the first visit, every time a new client comes through their booking site. You do the work; the platform takes the introduction fee — on your chair, in your shop.
What a four-chair salon actually pays
One shop, four working stylists, about 200 bookings a month. Every figure is off a supplier’s own public price page in September 2026, VAT included so the numbers can be compared fairly.
| What you are buying | A month | MiSalon |
|---|---|---|
| An established salon and spa system, the kind that has been around twenty years | R750 – R805 | R299 |
| A global booking platform, priced for each bookable person | About R1 080, plus a fifth of each new client | R299 |
| A booking link for one person, with a fee on each booking | R299 + about R11 a booking | R299 |
| A diary built into a card machine | R249, diary and checkout only | R299, the whole salon |
| Charged per team member | Usually | Never |
| Charged per booking | Often | Never |
| A cut of a new client | Up to 20% | None |
| Setup and moving your data across | Sometimes charged | Free, we do it |
| A contract you are locked into | Sometimes | Month to month |
Prices move. We check every figure on this page each quarter, and the date above is the last time we did it. If you think one is out of date, tell us and we will fix it — help@misalon.co.za.
The same salon, over a year
Not a special. Not a first-year discount that goes up in month thirteen. The same R299.
An established system
- R750 to R805 a month
- Stock and reporting often cost extra
- Built for a desktop in the back
One flat price
- R299 a month, everything in
- No per-person fee, ever
- The whole salon on your phone
A global platform
- Priced per bookable person
- Plus a fifth of each new client
- Plus card and message fees
That is R5 400 to R6 000 a year back in the till against an established system, and more again against a platform that takes a cut of your clients. Roughly a stylist’s December bonus, or a full colour bar restock.
We move your salon across. You do not pay for that.
Changing software is the part everyone dreads, so we do it for you instead of handing you a spreadsheet and wishing you luck.
1. Export from where you are now
Every system can produce a file of your clients and services. Ask them for it, or send us a screenshot and we will tell you exactly which button to press.
2. Email it to us
Send it to help@misalon.co.za. Clients, services, prices, team, stock and past visits — whatever your file holds, we take.
3. Open your salon, already full
Usually within two working days. You sign in and everything is there: your price list, your regulars, their history. Then you switch the old one off.
Start 30 days free See the price
Free, whatever size your salon is, and you can do it during the 30 free days so you are not paying twice for a single month.
Straight answers
Why can I not just compare the monthly prices?
Because the monthly price is often the smallest part. A fee for each stylist, a fee on each booking and a cut of every new client are all charged on top, and none of them appear on the price page in a way you can add up in advance. That is why this page prices a real salon instead of a plan.
Do you charge per team member?
No. R299 a month is the whole salon, whether that is two people or twenty. Hiring someone never costs you more in software.
Do you take a cut of my takings or my new clients?
No. Deposits and card payments go through your own PayFast, Yoco or Ozow account, straight into your bank. We never touch the money and we take nothing off a booking.
What if I already pay for something else this month?
Start your 30 free days now and move across while the old one is still running. You will not pay twice for the same month, and if it does not suit you, you have lost nothing.
Is the price going to jump after a year?
No. There is no introductory rate on this page. R299 is the price, and if it ever changes you will hear it from us a month before, not on an invoice.
Work out your own number.
Take what you pay a month, add the per-person fees, add the booking fees, multiply by twelve. Then come and see what R299 covers.
No card needed. Nothing to cancel if you walk away.
